Its cool water was deep and clean. We lunged full speed into the refreshing dive. I swam from one spot in the pond to the other with Cooper trying to swim next to me. Usually he ended up swimming across or up my raw sunburned back, scratching me with his claws. It is true. My forever friend Cooper followed me on land and sea and everywhere! We swam longer than usiial on that victorious August day and walked the rest of the way home. After conquering Mount California, I knew we could make it all the way across country.
